The Fort Conference Wrap-up

We’ve just wrapped up the first-ever Fort Conference at Grit + Gold and what an incredible two days! We learned about ourselves and how to hone in on what makes us do what we do and why. We learned real, measurable goal setting and accountability; pricing strategy; how to style, create, and capture quality content; floral arranging 101; formal table setting and styling; how to better our websites and blogs; how to distinguish ourselves; calligraphy basics; and dressing for success. There were takeaways for everyone, regardless of the place in their careers. The Fort Conference was a perfect balance of deep introspection and beautiful, fluffy fun.

Each speaker was so interactive — it felt less like they were speaking AT the people in the room, and instead like they were talking WITH everyone — leading a dialogue instead of a lecture. The experts we heard from included: Rocky Garza of Staff Retreat Co., Charla Storey (photographer), Lottie Fowler of Grit + Gold, Amanda Marie Lackey (photographer), Julian Leaver of Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, Liz Larsen of Accessory Jane, Briley Studdard of Oh Deery, and our own Laura Heymann of Art by Ellie.

The Fort Conference’s first participants were simply inspiring – they were planners, artists, photographers, designers, bakers, makers, students, problem solvers, moms, and deep thinkers. Everyone came in with an open mind and seems to have walked away with a full heart, a calendar of actionable goals, renewed focus, and loads of new friends/fans.

Not to be overlooked, nothing says Fort Worth like yummy, local, fresh food, and our breakfasts, lunches, and snacks helped us keep up the momentum. Thank you so much, Stir Crazy Baked Goods, Magdalena’s, Funky Town Donuts, Le Monade Catering, and Kent & Co.

So proud to be a part (two words) of this group!
