Wedding Vendor Booking Timeline

Planning a wedding can be an overwhelming task with endless decisions, so WeddingWire created a handy infographic to provide a step-by-step timeline for when you should book your wedding vendors.

First thing's first: Wedding Planner & Venue Booking

Dallas wedding venues

NYC wedding venues

Chicago wedding venues

Los Angeles wedding venues

OUR FAVORITE PART:
Wedding Stationery

For the stationery elements, keep in mind the graphic contains booking timelines, not mailing timelines. While we receive inquiries up to and even beyond 12 months before the wedding, booking us about 6-8 months in advance is perfect timing!

SAVE-THE-DATE MAILING TIMELINE

Save-the-dates are typically sent out 4-6 months before the wedding. Mailing save-the-dates as far in advance as 9 months is acceptable, especially for destination or international weddings (in which case we'd need to be booked more like 10-12 months before the wedding).

WEDDING INVITATION MAILING TIMELINE

Wedding invitations are typically sent out 8 weeks before the wedding. Mailing invitations as early as 12 weeks before the wedding does happen, though it is rare. Adversely, mailing invitations just 4-6 weeks before the wedding can be acceptable if the guest list is very small, family-only, or mostly local. We are unable to accept wedding invitation orders within 14 weeks of the wedding date.

WEDDING DAY PAPER TIMELINE

After the invitations have gone out, we can shift our focus to your wedding day paper. Paper goods for the day of the wedding — programs, menus, escort cards and/or place cards, signage, favor tags, etc. — will need to go to press about 2-3 weeks before the wedding.

Hopefully WeddingWire's Vendor Booking Timeline graphic helps make the wedding planning and the decision-making process a little easier (and more fun)!
